Handmade Sculptured Bogwood Reclaimed from Midlands Bogs
In the Celtic Roots Studio you will experience many aspects of craft. The bogwood sculptures sit alongside general crafts in this beautiful old house. There are exquisite sculptures and gifts made of bogwood. Each piece is individually crafted from this unique material. The local bogwood used to create these gifts can be as old as 5000 years. The certified five millennia old bogwood comes from various woods species - oak, yew or pine. The bogwood was brought to the surface of the bog during peat production. This indigenous wood is collected and dried for two year before any artifacts are made by the artists in the Studio. You can learn more about the history of the local bogwood and the processes by having a browse in the Econo Musee. In the Celtic Roots Studio you will find a selection of gifts for every occasion – weddings, retirements, birthdays, and corporate gifts. The engraving of gifts can be arranged in house. The Studio also has a complete commissioning service for awards and life size indoor and outdoor sculptures. Commissions are welcome.
