Treske Quartet
Thursday 17th October, 8pm
The Treske Quartet is an emerging ensemble based in Manchester, UK. Their identity as a quartet lies in a commitment to championing repertoire by 20th & 21st century composers. Their goal is to curate and perform programmes that include a variety of musical styles by established and emerging composers, and to give audiences radical experiences with new sound worlds. Treske loves to collaborate with living composers, acting as a platform for their work to be presented and in doing so, contributing to the growing pool of new generation string quartet music. The quartet takes its name from the medieval town of Treske, North Yorkshire (now Thirsk).
The quartet were delighted to receive 2nd place at the 2023 Cavatina Competition in Wigmore Hall. Other recent projects have included New Music on the Point in Vermont USA (studying under the JACK Quartet and performing 4 world premieres written specially for them) as well as appearances at West Cork Chamber Music Festival, Roscommon Chamber Music Festival, South Downs Summer Music and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (Canada). 2023-2024 saw the quartet pursue a year-long collaboration with the Royal Irish Academy of Music as the Young Quartet in Residence. Previously, they studied with members of the Elias Quartet on the RNCM String Quartet Studio and continue to receive mentorship through ChamberStudio at King’s Place in London.
Through the Harrison Frank Family Foundation we are very fortunate to be playing on a set of instruments made from the same tree from the W.E. Hill & Sons workshop.
