Esker Sessions Volume V: Vincent Fox and Eileen Casey

Esker Sessions continues with Volume V featuring poets Vincent Fox and Eileen Casey.
Eileen Casey (originally from Birr) is based in South Dublin. Author of six poetry collections (Arlen House, New Island), her poetry and prose is included in anthologies by Dedalus, Faber & Faber, Arlen House, New Island, Salmon Publishing, Abridged, among others. The Oliver Goldsmith International Poetry Prize and a Hennessy Fiction Award (Emerging) feature among her literary achievements. River Songs, Birr Town Stills (a collaboration with photographer Jackie Lynch) and For the Record, (themed around sport) received funding from Creative Ireland and The County Offaly Commemorative Fund respectively. A Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship recipient, over the years Casey was awarded residencies, Arts Council (An Chomhairle Ealaíon) and County Council bursaries.
Vincent Woods is a playwright, poet and broadcaster. His acclaimed play ‘At the Black Pig’s Dyke’ explored the Irish border territory between Northern Ireland and the Republic; other plays for Druid Theatre Company and the Abbey Theatre include ‘Song of the Yellow Bittern’ and ‘A Cry from Heaven.’ His radio plays are: ‘The Gospels of Aughamore’, ‘Broken Moon’ and ‘Last Supper at the Imperial Hotel’. He has made a number of radio documentaries, including the ongoing RTÉ Radio 1 series ‘The County Line’ which examines cultural identity in all of Ireland’s 32 counties. He has published two collections of poetry, ‘The Colour of Language’ and ‘Lives and Miracles’, and, with Henry Glassie, the collection ‘Borderlines’.
He has received a number of literary awards, including the Stewart Parker award for Drama and the Ted McNulty award for poetry. Vincent has been Writer in Residence at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and taught drama and creative writing there. Vincent is director of The Iron Mountain Literature Festival in Co. Leitrim and has been a regular presenter of arts programmes on RTÉ. He recently presented the landmark radio series ‘The County Measure’ on RTÉ Radio 1, and is a regular contributor to ‘Sunday Miscellany’. Vincent lives in Dublin and is a member of Aosdána.
