About
Cycling in Lough Boora Discovery Park offers a relaxed and scenic way to explore one of Offaly’s most distinctive landscapes. Set across restored peatlands, lakes and wetlands, the park features a network of off-road cycling routes within a perimeter of approximately 30 km, making it ideal for families, leisure cyclists and groups alike. The Park is also connected to the Grand Canal Greenway via an off-road link, given the cyclists endless possibilities to cycle both Esat to Tullamore and further afield or West towards to Shannon. Things to Know
Useful Information
Several looped routes begin from the visitor centre and can be adapted to suit different abilities:
- Mesolithic Route (9.3 km) is a popular loop suitable for walkers and cyclists, with smooth surfaces and views across wetlands and sculpture parklands.
- Turraun / Blue Route (15.8 km) explores rehabilitated peatland landscapes, sculpture areas and Bord na Móna railway crossings.
- Internal looped park routes provide shorter options allowing visitors to explore lakeside scenery and public artworks at a relaxed pace.

Lough Boora is just 7km from Blueball and 5km from Kilcormac and is located off the main Tullamore to Birr road.
