If you’re looking for the perfect day out in nature with lots to see along the way, then Lough Boora Discovery Park is the place for you. Set in over 2,000 hectares of peatlands, it’s a unique park, encompassing art, cycle and walkways, wonderful habitats and lots more. Lough Boora is a family friendly environment and offers trails ranging from a short stroll to longer treks to take you through the Park’s diverse amenities.
The parklands also consist of a magnificent collection of natural and designed lakes, wetlands, woodland areas, natural recolonisation and pastureland, providing a new habitat for wildlife, flora and fauna.

Walk the wonderful trails through the park or cycle with kids of all ages; bikes are available to rent. There are also picnic and play areas and a fairy trail which are accessible for buggies and wheelchair users. All routes start and end at the Visitor Centre, with a level walking landscape that can be enjoyed by all age groups.
Visitors to the park can also enjoy fishing and birdwatching. Lough Boora is a centre for bird watching in Ireland, with a range of species calling it home at different times of the year. The park is also home to some of the most innovative land and environmental sculptures in Ireland and the Park’s route is enhanced by innovative works of art. An Portach Ciúin (meaning “The Quiet Bog”) is a specially designed, enclosed sensory garden located within park. It provides a tranquil, reflective space for visitors, especially those with particular needs, to connect with nature.
