The Slieve Bloom Mountain Trails in Kinnitty, Co. Offaly, offer one of Ireland’s most rewarding biking experiences. Set in the stunning mountain range where Offaly and Laois meet, the trail network suits different levels, from moderate to more difficult terrain. Starting out from Kinnitty, you can choose from Blue or Red loops, depending on how challenging a trail you want. Mountain bike riders can expect a wonderful mix of environments, from forest tracks to upland scenes and stunning woodlands and views. With close to 100km of trails to explore, there are three mountain bike routes to choose from the Kinnitty base: the Kinnitty Blue Route (which has 3 trails inc.), the River Run (circa. 25km) and Mountain Top Red Routes (over 30km). The trails all start and finish in Kinnitty, where there is parking at the trailhead in the village, so perfect for people touring the area by car also. The trails take riders through beautiful forests and open land with fantastic views over Kinnitty Castle and beyond. Forest road climbs lead to twisty singletrack with lots of fast descents, ups and downs, tight turns and technical rocky bits, guaranteed to leave you smiling! The trails are waymarked in one direction, so please follow the directional arrows.
