The Slieve Blooms are some of the oldest mountains in Europe. Once over 3,700 metres tall, they now stand at 527 metres of stunning beauty. Walkers love the Slieve Bloom Mountains as they have such varied trails featuring ancient landscapes, up to 65 bird species, native woodlands and hidden waterfalls. There is also a diverse range of trees and plants throughout the mountains. The Slieve Blooms offer something for everyone, from relaxed family strolls stopping for hot chocolate, to rewarding hikes for seasoned walkers and everything in between.

Families and casual walkers can enjoy well-marked woodland trails and forest roads around Kinnitty and Glenbarrow, where shorter loops and accessible paths allow visitors to soak up nature at an easy pace. These routes are perfect for spotting wildlife, enjoying a picnic or simply escaping the bustle of everyday life.
For more experienced hikers, the Slieve Blooms deliver a sense of adventure without overwhelming height. Choose from 17 Slieve Bloom Looped Walks of varying length from trailheads at Kinnitty, Cadamstown, Clonaslee, Glenbarrow and Monicknew. There are plenty of organised walks throughout the year and every spring, the mountains burst into life with the Slieve Bloom Walking Festival.
