Artist Pamela de Brí will join us to discuss her current exhibition, Ar an Imeall, at Esker Arts.
De Brí is an artist interested in Irish cultural and environmental landscape, and how objects and images from the past embody cultural memory and characterise the future. Her overall philosophy is that art should have a relevance to the society from which it evolves.
The artist’s work documents and reflects social and demographic changes in rural Ireland. It is project based, focusing on a particular aspect of society, researching it, engaging with relevant people and their stories, exploring the location, to build up a body of documentation and information which inspires the resulting artwork.
The exhibition Ar an Imeall – On the Edge is a bilingual project which explores and documents a large selection of Ireland’s offshore islands.
